Introduction to Beijing

Okay-the goal is to get our blog caught up this morning.  Let's see how this goes.....
Our CHI representative met us at the airport and got us settled into our hotel The Radisson Blu in Beijing at about 1:00-1:30am Thursday morning.  We were actually fairly well-rested since that is the middle of the afternoon BG time and we had slept a lot on the plane, but we were able to get some sleep regardless.  Our room was equipped with three small beds which David assures me were a little larger than twin, but he wasn't the one who was sleeping with a child, so I'm still not completely sure. :~)  Ella was a good partner - very little kicking.  The next morning we had a fantastic breakfast at the hotel and met Amy(who we have since gotten to know quite well) at 10:00 in the hotel lobby to discuss our plans for the day and be given a walking tour of the sites around our hotel.  Within walking distance was KFC, Pizza Hut, several authentic Chinese restaurants, Starbucks, a shopping mall, and Carrefour (like a Wal-Mart).  The street are very busy and dirty.  We met a local guide in the afternoon, Lee, who took us the to The Temple of Heaven and a small tour of a Chinese residence area.  In evening we went our on our own to see get some dinner.  No one at the restaurant knew English and we knew no Chinese, but we managed to order some food amidst the laughter and ate it despite the fact that we are novice chopstick users.
